This was inspired from an idea that came as I worked on this piece: On another world, two natives are off for an evening stroll. Their people are slowly dying out. Suddenly a vision appears in the night sky—a creature they’d never seen before. Artemis is the goddess of fertility and childhood, as mythology goes. Perhaps her face portends a miracle . . .
