I work spontaneously in watercolor wash, allowing accidents and blends of colors. When that dries, I find an image in the results—most of the time, it’s there, waiting to be pulled out. I use oil pencils and sometimes ink to finish the piece. I felt the peaceful tones and found a woman’s face emanating from the bowl, as smoke.

Marge Ballif  Simon freelances as a writer-poet-artist for genre and mainstream publications.
