Lorrie Bortner holds an MFA in painting, MA in education, and MSCI and BSCI in interdisciplinary studies. She has enjoyed painting since a child. She has been practicing Transcendental Meditation since 1971 and finds that her experience of the unboundedness of meditation influences her work. She has been involved in Aztec dance in Taos, New Mexico, since 1998. Her work has been exhibited in group shows in New Mexico, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, California, Pennsylvania and Florida. She has created installations and murals and has received numerous grants. Lorrie has also coordinated museum educational events and has been involved with arts in the schools.
