This was inspired from the PBS “Celtic Woman” special that aired last year. I sketched the marvelous fiddler as a gesture drawing, then transferred it to watercolor paper. I proceeded from there with colors and lines that reflected her passionate performance.

Marge Ballif  Simon freelances as a writer-poet-artist for genre and mainstream publications. Her illustrated poetry collections include Eonian Variations, Dark Regions Press, 1995; Night Smoke, Miniature Sun Press, 2002; and Artist of Antithesis, Miniature Sun Press, 2003. She is the illustrator for the Bram Stoker winning EXTREMES 2 CD-ROM collection, two Best Poetry Collection winners, Consumed, Reduced to Beautiful Grey Ashes by Linda Addison (2001), and Bruce Boston’s Pitchblende (2004).
