A tiny bud, no more than a quarter-inch in size, buried nigh unto unseen beneath a towering juniper bush—the burst of yellow seemed to be lit from within, as if it were soaking up the available dappled sunlight for use at a later time.

Deb Booth is a photographer and author who lives in the awe-inspiring Blue Ridge Mountains. Her work has appeared in galleries in Glen Allen, Richmond, Staunton, and Waynesboro, Virginia. She says, "I use macro photography to help me see bits of brilliance that might otherwise be missed—hence the name of my studio. In the music business, singers will do their own versions of another musician's work, and it's called a 'cover'. The way I see it, I do covers of some of Nature's greatest hits." More of her work may be seen on her website, www.differentlightstudio.com, and she can be reached via email at: deb@differentlightstudio.com.
