When I visited Yosemite National Park two years ago, it was cool to be able to photograph the same landscapes Ansel Adams photographed. I felt oddly connected to Adams because he first visited Yosemite when he was fourteen years old and I was only a year older than he had been. I greatly admire his photography. El Capitan is awesome. It's impossible to create an image that really captures it. When I took this photo, climbers were on the face. To see them you needed to use a high-magnification telephoto lens. Even then they were only just visible.
Joseph J. Palka III started taking pictures for fun in grade school. More recently he has begun to explore photography as an outlet for his creative self. In addition to his inclusion in the current issue of Cezanne's Carrot, he will have a photo in the upcoming print issue of the Artsbridge Writers' Gallery. Joseph lives in Flemington, New Jersey, where he is a senior at Hunterdon Central Regional High School.
