This photo was taken in the Afton State Park, just east of the Minneapolis/St. Paul suburban sprawl. To me, these pines represent three old soldiers standing guard against further destruction of the natural wilderness. As populations grow and urbanization continues, reminders of what was once natural become more important. As if standing on guard, these tired old pines are putting up a good fight and hopefully will inspire those that follow.
