This photo, "Steve Berry," was the first that I did in a series of like-minded compositions, the Steve Series. I had, as a portraiture subject, a man named Steve who wanted naked photos taken of himself, but at the same time seemed very insecure about his body. I wanted to prove to him that the human body is a natural thing that can be very beautiful, so I started this series, incorporating his naked body with things that I thought were already beautiful in nature.

Ashley Lorenz lives and works in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she owns and operates her own full-time photography business, Lorenz Photography.
