The idea for this painting came out of my belief that under our skin, we are all alike and that we are completely connected to the earth. It's my way of bridging our seeming disconnection from our origin to how we relate to the earth and each other now.

Ellen McMahill graduated with a BA in Art from Florida State University in 1973, only to find that there were many roads to travel before art would be the center of her life. Experiences she had and the beliefs that arose enriched her artistic expression. For seventeen years, she wove tapestries and participated in shows in Florida and the southeast. But the best was yet to come with an inspiration to paint in acrylics in 2003 and to move to Los Angeles to discover much more about painting and being an artist.
